Asparagus Lignosus

Description

A spiny shrublet to 80cm with pale, finely grooved stems and widely spreading branches bearing clusters of leathery, needle-like false leaves.

Asparagus Lignosus bears 1-4 white flowers in the axils of the clusters, the tepals and the stamens spreading.

It occurs on rocky sandstone slopes and damp sandy flats in the Southwestern Cape.
