Description

Vicia lutea is a plant species of the genus Vicia. It is native to Europe, western Asia, and North Africa, and is an introduced species on other continents. It is an annual herb. It has leaves made up of several pairs of oblong or linear leaflets each 1 to 2 centimeters long. It produces solitary flowers or clusters of up to 3 flowers with yellow or purple-tinged corollas up to 3 centimeters in length. As part of the pea family, it fixes Nitrogen which shifts the soil to favouring weed species over Fynbos, so it is a priority for removal in Fynbos patches.

Propagation instructions - seeds

Remove manually, if abundant while establishing the bed, till deeply. Cover the soil with mulch, shading or smothering plants.
